Harbour’s Edge is, as the name implies, all about its premier location on the water. Sitting on the edge of the Intracoastal Waterway in Delray Beach, this high-end Life Plan Community created a master plan to guide them into their future with a repositioning that will “take them to the next level” and “set the community apart.” There was the obvious potential for dynamic indoor/outdoor connections and enhancements of exterior views. The community also has a high-end reputation for service and quality, with resident demographics supporting this special position in the market. They also have a unique approach to “assisted living,” wherein it does not have its own distinct and separate structure, but rather offers a full service “in-residence” care program.
The Master Plan was respectful of these unique characteristics and focused on the goals of refurbishment of the entire community; creation of additional dining venues; enhancement of the Health Care Center through a combination of additions and renovations; re-organization and re-design of the Commons; and enhancement of the Wellness spaces. The completed first phase includes a $5 million renovation to the Health Center, including an expanded physical and occupation therapy room, new spa and meditation rooms, a new front entrance, a new full-service kitchen and expanded dining venue with shaded outdoor seating.
The importance of nature as a force for wellbeing and wellness is carried throughout the entire architectural repositioning. The community’s commitment to a lifestyle of vitality, embracing the six dimensions of whole-person wellness through their wellness philosophy, greatly influenced and directed this dramatic transformation.
