First completed project for Department of Veterans Affairs underway

When the Department of Veterans Affairs began a cultural transformation to convert their skilled care centers into Community Living Centers, following a veteran-centered model of care, c.c. hodgson architectural group was selected to develop a master plan for their Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Virginia. The master plan locates three new Community Living Centers, and a Women’s Wellness Center on the existing campus.
The first phase of the master plan, the construction of a two-story Community Living Center for skilled nursing and dementia is under construction and will be completed by August 2016. While we are working on other projects for the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Martinsburg center will be the first completed project for c.c. hodgson architectural group.
The Martinsburg VAMC is also significant because it is being designed following Planetree principles. c.c. hodgson architectural group was one of only 12 architectural firms to be selected as a member of their Planetree Visionary Design Network. This certification establishes firms as specialists in evidence-based design, sustainability, community outreach, and most importantly, a focus on the Planetree philosophy and its core components of healing design.
